    Over 70 people tuned in to the 2020 Ballot overview  video conference.  Several Pro and Con views were presented on most of the  San Francisco city propositions.  Following that Sally Stephens from  GGHNA gave an overview of the California state propositions

  • District 7 Candidates Debate

    Over 150 people tuned in to the SHARP District 7 candidates’ forum.  The seven candidates fielded questions for over two hours covering just about every issue that San Francisco faces.

    On August 26, Woody LaBounty of SF Heritage entertained SHARP members and guests via ZOOM with a rundown of what SF Heritage does. The group is involved with saving both the architectural assets of the city and businesses affecting what makes the City special.

  • Cruise Self Driving Cars

    On August 5 SHARP hosted a Zoom meeting with Cruise self driving cars. From Cruise representative, Kenny Montilla, we learned that autonomous vehicle was a more accurate description for the vehicles and that they do a lot more than simply taking over when you don’t want to drive.

  • Emergency Preparedness Classes

    A large group looked on as David Munoz Ventura from Community Youth Center  went over what to do during and after a disaster.  The quick response and recovery during and after a catastrophic disaster can allow the community to rebound quicker. The training also included Fire Escape, and Shelter-in-Place follow by way to do after the event and recovery.

    A large group tuned in to the first of this series of Zoom meetings on Emergency Preparedness.  David Munoz Ventura of Community  Youth Center went over the many types of disasters that may occur and the many ways to prepare for these eventualities.

  • How to Get Around During COVID-19 – S.H.A.R.P. ZOOM MEETING

    On June 29 SHARP held their second ZOOM meeting. Our guest was Cathy De Luca from the Community Living Campaign. Cathy covered a host of subject matter related to transportation in San Francisco in the age of CoVid-19. Right now the SF MUNI is running on a limited schedule and getting around can be difficult.  Cathy offered a number of alternatives for seniors and disabled to get around San Francisco

    Jonathan YoungJonathan Young is a wildlife ecologist for the Presidio Trust. In his talk he explained how Ecologists use the past to understand the potential for the future using science. He shared many examples of project done during the past 20 years including the restoration of Mountain Lake which was very contaminated with lead and other impurities. The water is cleaner due to bringing back fresh-water mussels (one example) that filter the water and improve quality and clarity.
