On August 5 SHARP hosted a Zoom meeting with Cruise self driving cars. From Cruise representative, Kenny Montilla, we learned that autonomous vehicle was a more accurate description for the vehicles. Cruise is developing cars that have already reached “level 4” in their testing .  All of their cars are electric and use renewable energy. They hope that one day their fleet would operate much like a taxi that could be booked and take you to your destination without a driver. Cruise is testing in San Francisco to be able to test the cars in a difficult urban environment rather than less congested streets.

Cruise has even been testing using their fleet for no-contact deliveries from the Food Bank during the current CoVid conditions.
