DA Gascón cited his office’s accomplishments, stoutly defended state ballot Proposition 47 (which he helped pass), and outlined future criminal justice challenges.

James Dixon, Architect – Victorian & Edwardian architecture in San Francisco
S.H.A.R.P. February meeting attendees were treated to a comprehensive 90 minute talk by well known architect James Dixon. Mr. Dixon covered the subtleties of San Francisco architecture from1825 thru 1920, covering the Victorian and Edwardian periods. One may think that’s just two styles, but Mr. Dixon laid out over a dozen changes in design and construction over that period of time.

To Stop Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is modern day slavery. It includes forced prostitution and other forms of forced labor. Although hard numbers are hard to come by, human trafficking appears to be widespread in San Francisco. We were briefed by three prominent persons in the fight against human trafficking in the city: Minouche Kandel, Director of Women’s Policy at the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women; Antonia Lavine, Coordinator of the San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking; and Jessica Li, Executive Director of San Francisco SafeHouse, a safe temporary home where women can recover from forced prostitution and other kinds of sexual exploitation.
