We heard from Phil Ting and Michael Breyer, candidates for the Assembly, and from five candidates for District 7 Supervisor: Mike Garcia, Andrew Bley, Norman Yee, Glenn Rogers, and F.X. Crowley.

Termed-our Supervisor Sean Elsbernd spoke to us just after returning home from Yosemite.  He reflected on his eight years as Supervisor.  We gave him a cake. We’ll miss him.

Laurence Kornfield, San Francisco’s former chief building inspector and the guiding force behind San Francisco’s Community Action Plan for Seismic Safety (CAPSS), spoke about what you can do to prepare for the Big One.  Click here for a video of his presentation.  The CAPSS facebook page is here.

Lorri Ungaretti, local author and historian, spoke about her new book, “Stories in the Sand,” a history of the Sunset neighborhood.

Sandra Meyer spoke about how seniors can protect themselves against fraud.  She distributed a useful booklet from the California Department of Corporations: “Protect Yourself from Fraud.”

Eric Miller, from the San Francisco Forest Alliance, spoke against the city’s “Natural Areas Program” and its plan to remove trees.  Our own Jake Sigg— jakesigg@earthlink.net — offered a differing view and, in particular, spoke about dealing with the problematic eucalyptus trees on Mt. Sutro.
