We held a forum presenting the candidates for Supervisor in District 7. We also heard advocates for and against Proposition H and an advocate in favor of Proposition G.
The candidates for supervisor in District 7 are (in alphabetical order) Joel Engardio, John Farrell, Ben Matranga, Norman Yee (incumbent), and Mike Young. (See photos in reverse alphabetical order below.) Proposition H is a proposal to create the office of a public advocate in San Francisco. Jon Golinger spoke in favor, Jay Cheng against. We also heard Supervisor Malia Cohen speaking in favor of Proposition G, a proposal to place the Office of Citizen Complaints (OCC) outside the police department. OCC investigates complaints against the police. If Props G and H were both to pass, OCC would become part of the public advocate’s office. Cohen said that the Board of Supervisors voted 11-0 to put Prop G on the ballot and that there is no organized opposition to it. About 70 people attended the forum.
