The SHARP Executive Board has chosen recipients for $4,000 in grants for the last half of 2014.  The grants are $1,000 each to Lava Mae, the Center for Young Women’s Development, the Zen Hospice’s training program for volunteer caregivers, and the Garden for the Environment, on 7th Avenue at Lawton Street.  For more information, see our grants page.

On Wednesday, December 10, SHARP Board member John Barry will narrate a Power Point presentation and lead a discussion on backyard cottages, mini-homes that could help ease the affordable housing crisis in San Francisco—if the city changed its rule prohibiting such structures. USF professor and political commentator Corey Cook will analyze the results of the election at the next meeting of the Noe Valley Democratic Club: Thursday, November 20, 7:15 p.m.  Note the changed location: James Lick Middle School, 1220 Noe Street (between 25th and Clipper).  SHARP is co-sponsoring the meeting.

SHARP’s Executive Board meets on the second Monday of the month at our meeting space, 1736 Ninth Avenue (btwn Moraga and Noriega), 7 p.m.  All SHARP members are invited to attend, particularly if they have trouble sleeping.

In her September talk to SHARP on climate change adaptation, SPUR’s Laura Tam promised to let us know when she had finished her analysis of Proposition 1, the water bond on this fall’s ballot.  Here it is.

The SHARP Board recommends a “Yes” Vote on Proposition L to protect neighborhood parking and provide for safer and smoother-flowing streets.
