September 30 deadline for feedback on MUNI’s planned changes to Irving Street

The proposed changes in summary:

1) going downtown
— the 9th & Irving stop by Jamba Juice will be moved around the corner to Citibank;
— the 4th & 7th Ave stops will be eliminated. And replaced by a 5th Ave stop by Martha Bros coffee.

2) coming home
— the 4th & 7th Ave stops will be eliminated. And replaced by a 6th Ave stop by Lime Tree;
— the Irving & 9th stop by Starbucks will be moved around the corner by Arizmendi and the Vet clinic.

At the new stops (Arizmendi, Citibank, 6th Ave, 5th Ave) the sidewalk will be widened 12-14 ft to the streetcar tracks, by 75 ft length.  MTA says riders will board the streetcar directly from the sidewalk without stepping down on the road.

With all the extra sidewalk space, DPW wants to add trees, planters, benches. Neighbors met with DPW in May to discuss ideas. DPW is kicking around a few ideas with their “concept designs” . . . .

Please take a look at their suggestions [here are the project boards], fill out the survey, comment on what you like/dislike.  Share this info with your friends, neighbors.  Again, the deadline is September 30.
