S.H.A.R.P. is a 100 year old civic organization open to anyone who lives or works in the area bounded by Lincoln Way on the north; Arguello, Parnassus, 5th Avenue, Kirkham, 6th Avenue, Warren Drive, and Laguna Honda on the east; Dewey-Taraval on the south; and 19th Avenue on the west. The specific and primary purposes for which S.H.A.R.P. was formed are to undertake charitable programs to benefit the Sunset Heights area of San Francisco. This shall include the instruction of the public on subjects useful and beneficial to the community, the lessening of the burdens of government, the combating of community deterioration, lessening of neighborhood tensions, the elimination of prejudice and discrimination, defense of human and civil rights secured by law, and the erection or maintenance of public buildings, monuments, or works.
